RU Institute of International and European Law

Reykjavik University‘s Institute of International and European Law (IIEL) conducts research in the field of public and private international law, EU/EEA law, human rights and comparative law. Moreover, IIEL provides support for postgraduate students and scholars to undertake studies in its field of expertise. In addition, IIEL cooperates with scholars at other institutes as well as the public and private sector. IIEL organises a variety of events, houses research projects, and offers university teaching and supervision in its fields of interest.

The director of the IIEL is Bjarni Már Magnússon, associate professor at RU School of Law ( bjarnim@ru.is ).
Board members are Guðmundur Alfreðsson, professor at the University of Akureyri and China University of Political Science and Law, Margrét Einarsdóttir, associate professor at RU School of Law and Thordís Ingadóttir, associate professor at RU School of Law. Ms. Ingadottir is the Chairperson of the Board.
