RU Career and Guidance Counsellors and Psychological Services

Career and Guidance Counsellors

Career and Guidance Counsellors will provide information on available programmes at RU and individual support for students during their studies at RU. Support is provided for students by focusing on their strengths and interests.

We emphasise:

  • Strengthening student skills and ambition regarding studies and employability.
  • Strengthening student study skills and expertise for their best results.
  • Strengthening student self-confidence and self-knowledge.

We provide individual counselling, group counselling and a variety of lunch lectures and workshops. Visitors can also take an interest inventory test for a small fee.

Follow us on Facebook for workshops, lunch lectures and other helpful information.

How to book an appointment

You can book an appointment with the Career and Guidance Counsellors via the software Karaconnect. Please scroll down the page and click on view profile (green link) for an individual counsellor. When you have the page for the individual counsellor, you click on Apply (next to About me) and there you scroll down in the calendar to find a session you can book. All the available sessions are in white. You might need to look in the following weeks. You are supposed to see at least the next couple of weeks ahead. If you are unable to find a session to book, you can also make an appointment by sending an e-mail directly to a counsellor. You can also contact our office by sending an e-mail to namsradgjof@ru.is.

Psychological services

Students at Reykjavík University have access to free psychological services within the university. The RU´s Psychological Services is provided by clinical psychologists and MSc students in Clinical Psychology, who receive professional guidance.

The Psychological Services offers courses in Icelandic and individual sessions in Icelandic and English. Our service is intended to provide short-term counselling and support. Therefore, the number of sessions we can offer each student is limited and we are not able to offer frequent appointments. In some cases, we will refer students to another, more appropriate services within the health care system.

How to book an appointment

To book an individual appointment, send an e-mail to salfraedithjonusta@ru.is or book an appointment with a Career and Guidance Counsellor who can make a referral if needed. All courses will be advertised separately.
