Apartments

The RU Student housing offer 252 rental units in total. All rent prices are index-linked.

Single rooms

About 26 - 27 m2 with a small kitchenette with utensils and a private bathroom. There is also access to a large shared kitchen, dining and meeting room and a balcony. Unit comes with a bed that is 120x200, desk and chair and curtains.
Monthly rent is approx. ISK 110,000 - index-linked.

Individual apartments

About 36 - 43 m2, with kitchenette, private bathroom and balcony.
Monthly rent is approx. ISK 128,000 - index-linked. 

Apartments for two people 

About 43 - 60 m2, one private bedroom, living room with kitchenette, private bathroom, and kitchenette, and balcony.
Monthly rent is approx. ISK 159,000 - index-linked.

Family apartments

About 74 - 78 m2, two private bedroom, living room with kitchenette, private bathroom and balcony.
Monthly rent is approx. ISK 173,000 - index-linked.

How do I apply?

Byggingafélag námsmanna (the Student Housing Association) handles renting, maintenance, and the application process on behalf of Reykjavik University. 

You can apply for RU Housing on the website: https://bn.is/rent-system/  

  • New students can register once they have received confirmation of their studies.
  • Current students can register on bn.is.
  • RU's allocation rules can be found on the bn.is website

Useful information

  • The internet is provided by RU. Assistance is available by sending an email to: help@ru.is
  • The laundry room is in the basement, C side of the house. You can use the machines from 7-22.
  • We encourage tenants to have a key in their phone and a "dart" for safety in case it is either lost or does not work temporarily. The app is called Openow and must use the same email address as the application that was submitted to BN. Darts are available at BN's office in Skeifan, Reykjavik.
  • Storage is included with each apartment and can be found in the basement.
  • Bicycle storage is in all the stairwells of the house. Bicycle storage in house B and C is in the basement but in house A on the 1st floor. Please note that part of the C-house apartments (western part) has access to bicycle storage in the B-staircase. This is done to even the load on the bicycle storage.
  • Work is underway to register a fixed number for the apartments, but until they are ready, tenants can use 232-7996 to apply for housing benefit at www.husbot.is 
  • The number of parking spaces at RU University Parks is limited according to the City of Reykjavík's zoning plan. It is assumed that only a small part of the population has access to a car.
  • Hiking and outdoor pearls in Öskjuhlíð and Nauthólsvík are a short walk away, in addition to which the planned Borgarlína will pass through the area. 
  • Reykjavík city center is a short walk from RU's Student Housing.

The RU university parks are by Nauthólsvegur at the foot of Öskjuhlíð, close to the university.
