It is anchored within the Psychology Department at RU and has eight core members, who are all committed to the advancement of scientific activities, teaching and training in clinical psychology.

Vision

The Centre for Research and Training in Clinical Psychology (CRTCP) is anchored within the Psychology Department at RU. The Centre has eight core members, who are all committed to the advancement of scientific activities, teaching and training in clinical psychology.

The main aims of the CRTCP are:

  1. To create a research environment to facilitate research in clinical psychology,
  2. to enhance the quality of the teaching and training within the University's Clinical Psychology program and PhD program,
  3. and to facilitate collaborative research with other departments at RU (e.g. Sport science, Engineering, Computer science), and parties/institutions outside RU, both nationally and internationally.

Impact

The CRTCP will create an environment that will facilitate research and thus enhance knowledge in the field of clinical psychology. Additionally, for research purposes, the Centre will, in the near future, include partners from other RU departments. For example, the Centre will provide an opportunity for the translation of research on the use of virtual reality (involving Computer Science) for phobias into a real life clinical setting.

The CRTCP will add value to educational programs within RU by creating a platform for training of RU MSc and PhD students, both in clinical evidence-based practices and in research. Finally, the CRTCP will provide the RU Psychological Service (Sálfræðiþjónusta HR) with knowledge on best practices in clinical psychology and evidence-based programs.
