Career and Guidance Counsellors
Career and Guidance Counsellors are dedicated to helping students succeed academically and beyond. Our team offers comprehensive support, including information on available programs and personalised guidance throughout a student's time at the university.
We emphasise:
- Strengthening student skills and ambition regarding studies and employability.
- Strengthening student study skills and expertise for their best results.
- Strengthening student self-confidence and self-knowledge.
To achieve these goals, we offer a range of services, including individual counselling, group counselling, and various lunch lectures and workshops. Additionally, we offer interest inventory tests for a small fee to help students identify areas of interest and potential career paths.
At RU, we are committed to helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed academically and professionally.
How to book an appointment
You can book an appointment with the Career and Guidance Counsellors via the software Karaconnect. Please scroll down the page and click on view profile (green link) for an individual counsellor. When you have the individual counsellor profile, click on Apply (next to About me) and scroll down in the calendar to find a session you can book. All the available sessions are in white. You might need to look in the following weeks. You are supposed to see at least the next couple of weeks ahead.
Psychological services
Students at Reykjavík University have access to free psychological services within the university. The RU´s Psychological Services is provided by clinical psychologists and MSc students in Clinical Psychology, who receive professional guidance.
The Psychological Services offers courses in Icelandic and individual sessions in Icelandic and English. Our service is intended to provide short-term counselling and support. Therefore, the number of sessions we can offer each student is limited, and we are not able to provide frequent appointments. In some cases, we will refer students to another, more appropriate services within the health care system.
How to book an appointment
To book an individual appointment, e-mail salfraedithjonusta@ru.is or book an appointment with a Career and Guidance Counsellor who can make a referral if needed. All courses will be advertised separately.
