The war in Ukraine: The Situation of Refugee Children and Youth in Iceland - How can we do better?
A seminar on the war in Ukraine with an emphasis on the situation of refugee children and youth in Iceland
Reykjavik University will hold a seminar on the war in Ukraine with an emphasis on the situation of children and youth who seek refuge in Iceland. The seminar will be held on Thursday 24th of March from 12:00 - 13:15, in room V102 at Reykjavik University, and will also be streamed and recorded.
Paola Cardenas, a doctoral student at the Department of Psychology, Reykjavik University and clinical psychologist at Barnahús, has for the past 3 years studied the social conditions and well-being of children and youth who seek refuge in Iceland. The main results of the study will be presented, reflecting on what we in Iceland have done well so far and what we can do better.
Stefán Vagn Stefánsson, Chairman of the Refugee Committee, will give a short talk about the topic. Didar Farid Kareem, interpreter and cultural mediator, and Sayed Hashimi, a young refugee, will share their experiences in Iceland. Ragnar Kjartansson, contemporary artist, will also share his reflection on the topic.
