The President is elected annually, attends meetings of RU‘s executive board, and sits on the board of representatives of the National Association of Icelandic Students.

Jón Goði says the central role of SFHR is to protect the interests of all RU students.

Our main focus for the school year is to continue with GLOBUS, which is a committee that manages the social life of exchange students; we also want to continue to strengthen all sub-committees of SFHR, which is an important part of a diverse social life for all.

Another function of the SFHR board is to accept suggestions from students that can cover anything. "SFHR board members sit on various committees with RU managers, and we can use that platform to make the students' voice heard loud and clear," says Jón Goði.

He says the main event held by the SFHR is the RU Olympic Week which takes place in September and ends with a big Olympic finale. "The biggest event every year is the Annual Ball, the largest school year event where around 800 students meet to enjoy dinner, entertainment, and dancing. We aim very high for the next year's ball, which will be topped late."

Others on the new board of SFHR are Anna Júlía Magnúsdóttir, the new Vice President, Hildur Hilmarsdóttir Treasurer, María Nína Gunnarsdóttir Student Officer, Svanfríður Júlía Steingrímsdóttir Information Officer, Anna Lára Orlowska Marketing Officer, and Emil Trausti Smyrilsson Sub-committee Representative.
