Reykjavík University is in 53rd place of the best young universities in the world
Reykjavík University is in 53rd place in the Times Higher Education magazine's newly published list of the best young universities in the world (Young Universities Ranking). The list includes 750 universities that have been operating for 50 years or less.
This result is considered particularly good, especially considering that Reykjavík University has only been operating for 24 years and has steadily risen on the list.
Times Higher Education is based on an assessment of thirteen key aspects of university work, such as the quality of teaching and research, the number of citations in scientific articles by university staff, international relations and collaboration with the business community. The criteria are the same as those used when universities are evaluated in the main list of Times Higher Education, but when it comes to young universities, the importance of reputation is reduced and more emphasis is placed on teaching, research, utilization of research and globalization.
