Quantum Computing for the 21st century: Try the IBM quantum computer

Special event at RU

11.9.2019

  • September 16th
  • Reykjavik University, room M208
  • 11:50 am – 1:30 pm

Bob Sutor, VP - IBM Q Strategy and Ecosystem,  will introduce the IBM quantum computer Qiskit which is now in beta testing. With him is a group of Masters students called The Blue Smarties.

IBM is interested in introducing this technlology to university students and staff and invites you to a special event at RU. Bob Sutor and Han Lilleland Jan will introduce the Quantum Computer, both the technology and how it will affect businesses.

The Blue Smarties team (masters students) will then help the audience to get hands-on access through a human user interface to IBM's Qiskit experimental cloud-enabled quantum computing platform.

The interface allows users to run algorithms and experiments, work with quantum bits (qubits), and explore tutorials and simulations around what might be possible with quantum computing. So take your laptop with you.

  • Bob Sutor: VP - IBM Q Strategy and Ecosystem, IBM Research Thomas J. Watson Research Center.
  • Jan Lillelund: CTO IBM, Executive Architect and technical leader in Enterprise IT.
