Organization of Teaching at RU this Autumn
It is always a great pleasure for teachers and staff to welcome students back to school and start a new school year. This fall is no exception.
It is a primary goal for Reykjavik University that the ongoing Covid epidemic should have as little effect on teaching, studying and services at RU as possible. At the same time, the University will abide by all directives from Icelandic Health Authorities.
- Traditional timetables will be the foundation of how teaching is organised at RU this fall.
- While limitations on gatherings are in effect, not all students can attend classes at the same time.
- All lectures will be either live-streamed or recorded and made available online.
- The exact organisation of teaching will vary between courses.
It is very important that students check when and where they should attend classes next week. Information for individual courses are to be found on Canvas and in emails.
For the longest time, it looked as we would start the school year with a 2 meter distance limit, but yesterday the authorities announced that restrictions on school operations have been amended so that social distancing at schools now only requires individuals to keep a one-meter distance. Those changes have real positivie impact on university operations and provide more flexibility to have more students on campus.
It should be emphasised that students at RU are able to study at RU without having to attend large gatherings. In particular, all course lectures are available streamed or online. Students who must conduct their studies entirely from home due to Covid, should contact their Department's offices.
All services at RU will be open and accessible, but with some limitations in accordance with restrictions set by Health Authorities. Students are encouraged to use digital methods where that is convenient, but should never hesitate to seek the service and assistance they need.
