Kristján H. Hákonarson, the new director of information technology at Reykjavík University
Kristján H. Hákonarson has been appointed director of information technology at Reykjavík University and will start work on August 1st. The IT department of HR operates the university's computer system, takes care of necessary software development and manages comprehensive user service for students and staff. This group estimates a total of 5,200 people, so the IT services scope is considerable.
Kristján has worked as a director at Advania for years and, among other things, has been responsible for internal IT, processes, privacy and security issues. Prior to that, he worked on quality and safety issues at Efla, Arion Bank and Taugagreining. Kristján is an educated systems engineer from the University of Skövde and graduated this spring with an MBA degree from the University of Reykjavík. He has worked in quality control, information security, information technology and management systems for almost a quarter of a century.
