Dr. Slawomir Koziel is a professor in the Department of Engineering in Reykjavik University. Koziel‘s research is focused on computer aided design and optimization of expensive simulation models, largely carried out in an anaechoic chamber in the basement of the RU main building. He teaches courses mainly in electrical engineering.

It was science and engineering that led me to where I am now, yet a particular field of activity is unimportant. How you do things is way more relevant than what you do.

”Having an everyday routine is key to reaching personal and professional goals, but more importantly, for balance. Having a well-established everyday routine is perhaps the single most important component that allows for all of that but also to stay in a harmony with the very structure of our bodies and minds, and to preserve the integrity.

Dr. Slawomir Koziel conducts research related to various aspects of computer-aided engineering design optimization and modeling with the emphasis on the surrogate- and knowledge-based optimization of computationally expensive structures.

When you are young, being involved in a university environment as a student, is a perfect way to develop this sort of routines that may help in life, regardless of what you eventually plan to do. Education, learning about the technology, different points of view, interactions with the various ways of thinking, formulating, and solving problems, is priceless and worth every day invested in such activities.”
