Our research has been funded by the European Union and Cisco in California, and those grants have allowed us to bring closer to reality very progressive ideas — and perhaps a little absurd. We laid a methodological, philosophical basis for this work about 12 years ago, and that foundation has proved incredibly successful in approaching what we call universal intelligence or general machine intelligence.

Kristinn has spent the last 15 years, along with a team of Doctoral students and researchers at RU's Artificial Intelligence Centre, working on developing a new type of artificial intelligence with a number of qualities that most artificial intelligence technologies lack, such as everyday logic, intuition and understanding of cause and effect, to name a few.
