Dr. David Christian Finger promoted to the position of associate professor
Dr. David Christian Finger has been promoted to the position of associate professor within the Department of Engineering at Reykjavik University following the assessment of an international evaluation committee.
David became an assistant professor at RU in 2014. He carries out teaching and research at the department and is an active participant in internal activities. Before joining RU he worked at The Icelandic Met Office and The Soil Conservation Service of Iceland. In the interim from February 2021 to December 2022, while working part-time at RU, David was head of the Department of Technology at the Energy Institute at Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, Austria.
David holds a PhD in environmental sciences from ETH Zurich. His research is primarily in the field of water resources, sustainability and renewable energy. Most of his experimental work happens outside as he and his students measure resources, natural phenomena and environmental impacts. His main focus lies on sustainable energy production, in particular hydropower. His research focuses on Iceland, Alpine areas (Switzerland, Austria and Nepal) and the Balkans.
