When Halldór Kristinsson was to decide on a master's program, he considered many factors but knew that he wanted to study something related to finance. Ultimately, he chose the corporate finance program at Reykjavik University because of the wide range of courses available and the exceptional facilities and strong industry connections that the university offers.
Halldór's interest in business and finance is mainly linked to reading books, but he has always read a lot.
Books like 'The Lean Startup' and 'The Intelligent Investor' were perhaps the first to hit me. Studying at RU gave me a lot; I met great people and appreciated the focus on teamwork, which is much closer to reality when you move to the labor market. Having good facilities and great access to teachers makes an incredible difference. I appreciate the teachers who took many extra steps to teach us and are interested in what we do after graduation.
Halldór graduated with a master's degree in corporate finance last summer and now works at the Central Bank of Iceland. "I am currently focused on setting up an environment for machine learning. This involves various tasks, including verifying collected data to increase its value, programming, and building statistical models. Ultimately, my primary objective is to support the bank's experts and enable them to use their expertise better," explains Halldór. He adds that he finds the study highly beneficial as it has equipped him with the necessary skills to perform his job more effectively.
Reykjavik University Department of Business Administration emphasizes excellent teaching, student participation, quality research, and good connection with industry. A masters programme in Corporate Finance provides the foundation for a corporate finance career.
