School of Science and Engineering scientists collaborated on EU project
Dr. Jónas Þór Snæbjörnsson, professor, and Dr. Þórður Víkingur Friðgeirsson, assistant professor, both at RU's School of Science and Engineering, are participants in an ERASMUS+ project that focuses on the development of six manuals for construction management.
Project Management and Decision Models
The books are a part of a series intended to support and provide continuing education for managers with an engineering background who are working in design, planning, and other apsects of construction. Snæbjörnsson and Friðgeirsson wrote chapters in the editions that contain information about BIM, Agile project management, decision models and scenario analysis.
The series has 25 books in total. They cover various interesting aspects of construction and latest trends in project management and logistics.
The project was formally closed with a conference in Warsaw October 26-27. Six new books in three languages (Polish, German and English, plus an excerpt in Icelandic) were introduced at the event.
Representatives of both academia and industry
The name of the project is CLOEMC (Common Learning Outcome for European Managers in Construction) and is the fourth in a series of similar projects that have been funded by the Leonardo and Erasmus + programmes of the EU.
Along with Reykjavik University the participants came from the Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany, the Chartered Institute of Building in the UK, the Association of European Building Surveyors and Construction Experts from Belgium and the UK, contractor AWBUD S.A. from Poland, and the Polish Association of Building Managers. The project was led by the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland.
The manuals will be available as e-books on the project´s website:
