More emphasis on AI in the Department of Computer Science

The European Digital Innovation Hub Iceland (EDHI-IS) started working on February 2nd. On that occasion, an opening ceremony was held in Gróska, where Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, President of Reykjavík University, gave a speech and discussed study lines in artificial intelligence, which fall under the EDIH project.

Sex karlmenn og tvær konur standa hlið við hlað og halda öll í  þráð .The Minister of Higher Education, Industry and Innovation, Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, opened EDHI-IS and symbolically connected the partners, Auðna Tæknitorg, Reykjavík University, University of Iceland, Rannís, Origo Iceland and Syndis.

RU's role in the EDIH project revolves around, among other things, RU establishing a new program in Digital Transformation with a focus on artificial intelligence. A Cybersecurity line is also being prepared, along with more study lines that will most likely be launched next year.

The EDHI-IS‘s role is to collect and share knowledge in AI, supercomputers, and computer security by promoting increased education, offering "develop and test" services, and consulting in financing and serving society in the field of digital innovation. EDIH in Iceland is part of a network of 225 similar European centers.
