Iceland School of Energy signs dual degree contract with Tianjin University in China
This past Thursday the 11th of September, Reykjavik University and a delegation from the prestigious Tianjin University signed a dual degree contract, which will mean students from Tianjin will now be able to study at Iceland School of Energy and graduate with a master degree from both Universities. ISE students will also have the opportunity to participate in education and research in China.
The Chinese government has adopted an ambitious environmental policy. To achieve its objectives, it is necessary to educate professionals in the field of renewable energy. The agreement at Reykjavik University is a part of this plan. This is the second contract this year that RU has signed with a Chinese university, in May RU signed a similar agreement with the China University of Geosciences.
. Iceland is an international leader in the use of renewable energy, so we have valuable knowledge to share with other countries, both through education and partnership development. RU is working around the world in the transmission of this expertise. Tianjin University is a leading university in the technology industries in China, and will play a key role in the development of renewable energy in China." said Dr Ari Kristinn Jónsson, president of the university during the signing.
Iceland School of Energy: a unique course of study
Iceland School of Energy offers two programmes at master level placing renewable energy sources and their utilisation in the foreground. The programmes are organised in cooperation with the School of Science and Engineering at RU, Reykjavik Energy and the Icelandic Energy Research Company (ISOR) and a number of companies are involved through education and research.
