MEd Sports and Health Education

A graduate programme for those who wish to specialise in health promotion and sport education. The emphasis is on quality of life for people of all ages and abilities and how it can be maximised with organised exercise based on the premises of pedagogy, psychology, nutrition, sport science, and public health science.

Purpose of the study is to prepare students for teaching sport at all school levels and for public health promotion in general.

The program is composed of courses which cover, e.g. sport pedagogy, preventive value of exercise, influencing factors of health, organization and role of the health trainer/instructor.

Structure

The course is organised as a two-year programme (four semesters) which leads to a 120 ECTS MEd degree. The programme is divided into 60 ECTS in pedagogy and 60 ECTS in sport science and health promotion.

Admission

Students shall have completed undergraduate studies in sport science, physical therapy, health training, biology, education science, or other related disciplines.
