Innovation

Universities are key sources and drivers of innovation in modern economies. Reykjavik University places great importance on its collaboration with industry, based on integrity and mutual respect.

Our partners recognize that university-business collaboration can be a source of added economic value for the company and strengthen their research and development in the longer term.

The most common types of university-business collaborations are:

  • Co-financed collaborations about innovation in research and teaching
  • Collaboration on contract research and services
  • Access to inventions and transfer of new technology
  • Funding of student projects, including industry Ph.Ds
  • Endowments for faculty positions

How do we do it?

The Relations Office is responsible for large scale collaborations with industry in teaching and research, in close cooperation with the relevant schools within the University.

There are numerous issues that need to be addressed when engaging in university-business collaboration, especially concerning IP and the ownership of results, which needs to be clear and transparent. In the licensing of inventions and new technology this is of special importance. We aim to provide professional and competent assistance through the entire process and answer all questions that may arise.
