For primary schools

Educational projects

Every year Reykjavik University takes part in several projects with Icelandic primary schools to introduce young students to the university community and increase their interest in university studies.

The University has put a special emphasis on projects where students are allowed to explore their creativity and develop their entrepreneurial skills along with projects dedicated to increased interest in science- and technology (STEM subjects).

Examples include Nýsköpunarkeppni grunnskólanemenda, a competition in innovation for students from the age of 10 to 12 years old, and Stelpur og Tækni (the Girls in ICT Day).

RU organizes also The Science Carousel (Hringekjan), where senior students from lower secondary schools are invited to take part in customized science classes under the supervision of university professors.
