Jón Haukur Appointed as Chief Executive of Operations at RU

Jón Haukur Arnarson has been appointed Chief Executive of Operations (COO) at Reykjavík University. He will start work at the beginning of 2023. The scope of the RU operations department includes information technology, real estate, the Open University at RU, various student services, and various support services for students and staff.

For the past seven years, Jón Haukur has been the manager of the operations department at Matís ohf. From 2008 to 2015, he was the operations manager, human resources manager, and project manager at Matís. Previously, he was, among other things, head of the laboratory at Hilton Meats Retail Ltd. in the UK, quality manager at Coors Brewing Company in Colorado, and accounting expert at Kaupthing's pension department.

He was a board member at Marinox ehf. 2013-2015 who specializes in the production of bioactive substances from seaweed and has been a board member since 2015 at UNA skincare, which works on the production of cosmetics with bioactive ingredients from seaweed.

Jón Haukur obtained a BSc degree in food science from the University of Iceland in 2000 and a master's degree in business administration with a focus on operations and quality management from the University of Iceland and Colorado University at Boulder in 2004. He completed GMP management training at Harvard Business School in 2015.
