We are looking for a character artist for a short term project related to a prototype game.

We’re bringing miniature style characters to life and we’re looking for a skilled 3D Character Artist to help us make it happen.

This contract role focuses on character modeling and preparation for animation and rigging in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll help define the look and proportions of our core character lineup, creating clean, optimized models that align with our stylized “Clear Heuristic Grimdark” aesthetic and support the exaggerated motion style of the game.

Responsibilities
  • Create five stylized character models ready for rigging and animation in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Model and prepare characters for consistent proportions, topology, and deformation behavior.
  • Ensure geometry is optimized for both performance and clarity at gameplay camera distance (RTS).
  • Maintain consistent visual style and scale across all character variants.
  • Provide final assets in game-ready format.
Requirements
  • Located in Iceland
  • Proven experience in 3D character modeling for real-time engines (Unreal Engine 5 experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of topology, rigging preparation, and deformation.
  • Experience with stylized or semi-realistic character modeling.
  • Comfort working from existing references.
  • Knowledge of socket placement and Metahuman principles is a plus.
Deliverables

Five fully modeled and optimized mannequin-style characters, each set up for rigging and socket implementation:

Each model should:

  • Conform to the standard UE5 mannequin skeleton structure
  • Include defined socket locations (hands, back, waist, head, etc.)
  • Be delivered in a clean, UE5-ready format with clear folder organization and documentation
Possible Contract Extension:

If time and budget permit there is an opportunity to be involved in the following:

  • Create 6 complete animation sets (idle, anticipation, action, recovery, run cycles)

  • Command Maneuver Combat (Gameplay)
  • Clear Heuristic Grimdark (Presentation, the part you’ll help with)
