Yellow September to be launched at RU tomorrow

Yellow September (Gulur september) will officially be launched at Reykjavik University tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m. Yellow September is a collaborative initiative involving institutions and organizations that work together on mental health promotion and suicide prevention.

This year, special emphasis is being placed on young people, mental health promotion, prevention, and the importance of ensuring that no one has to face difficulties alone.

A varied program

At the opening event, Píeta’s new emergency helpline number will be announced and a choir will give the first performance of a song connected to Yellow September and Píeta’s work.

Píeta is a prominent non-profit organization that offers free support for individuals dealing with suicidal thoughts or self-harm, as well as support for their families

Alma D. Möller, Minister of Health; Dr. Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, Vice President of RU; and Rúnar Gauti Gunnarsson, President of SFHR, will give addresses, along with a representative of Píeta.

The Lífsbrú recognition award will also be presented to an individual and a team for their significant contribution to suicide prevention in Iceland. Actress Edda Björgvinsdóttir will deliver a reflection and KASI will perform a musical piece.
