International symposium on consumer and market behaviour analysis
The Consumer Behaviour Analysis Research Group, founded in the 1990s by Distinguished Research Professor Gordon Foxall, held an international research symposium last week at Reykjavik University in preparation for the forthcoming edited volume, Innovations in Consumer and Market Behaviour Analysis: Building Evidence-Driven Market Strategy for the Digital Era. The volume will be published by Palgrave MacMillan next year and is edited by Valdimar Sigurðsson, Professor at RU’s Department of Business and Economics, and Asle Fagerstrøm, affiliated with Kristiania University and the University of Oslo.

The symposium brought together professors and researchers from Europe, North and South America, and Asia to present and discuss original research contributions intended for inclusion in the book. It provided an international forum for scholarly exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of research on consumer and market behaviour in an increasingly complex digital environment.
Combining conceptual, empirical, and case-based contributions, the volume explores how consumer behaviour analysis can both inform and benefit from related disciplines, fostering productive interdisciplinary dialogue. Particular emphasis is placed on identifying the environmental and contextual contingencies that shape consumer behaviour and examining how these insights can support the development of evidence-driven marketing strategies.

Through presentations and academic discussions addressing contemporary marketing challenges, the symposium aimed to advance theoretical understanding, strengthen empirical research, and generate actionable insights into consumer responses across evolving digital and market environments.
