Final Exams During the Exam Period – Important Rules
Certain rules apply during final exams regarding communication, identification, permitted materials and the conduct of exams, and more. The Office of Student Registry and Assessment would particularly like to draw students’ attention to the following:
- Exam rooms generally open 30 minutes before the exam begins.
- Students are assigned a seat and must take the exam in that seat. Once a student has entered the exam room, they may not leave without permission from an invigilator.
- Students must present valid photo identification, such as a driver’s license or passport.
- Phones, watches and other electronic devices must be kept in the designated phone box on the student’s desk throughout the exam. Devices must be switched off or set to airplane mode.
- The use of smart devices and communication devices is prohibited during the exam, as is communication with other students or anyone outside the exam room.
- Students may only use material specifically permitted by the instructor. All answer sheets must be labelled with the student´s name or exam number. Additional answear sheets may be requested from an invigilator of needed.
- No exam materials may be removed from the exam room.
- Students may not use the restroom or leave the exam room until at least one hour has passed from the start of the exam, except in special circumstances and only with the permission of an invigilator.
- Electronic exams are on-site exams and must be taken in the designated room and seat at Reykjavík University unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
Violations of the above may result in removal from the exam and/or other sanctions in accordance with RU´s rules on study and assessment. Further provisions regarding exams can be found in the Rules on Study and Assessment.
