Programme overview

The MPM programme at RU is a globally recognised master-level  programme that focuses on project, portfolio and programme management. It is tailored to meet the needs of working professionals. Teaching takes place on the RU campus.

Courses

Most of our core modules are taught over a period of one month. Course evaluation is at the end of each course. Evaluation is based on individual and group assignments, participation and engagement within the classroom, real projects, peer evaluation and examination. The programme is taught in Icelandic and the programme represents 90 ECTS credits.

Prerequisites

• Bachelor´s degree.

• Work experience (at least 3 years).
• Good English skills.

All applicants need to fill out an electronic application form and send all the required documents to our office. 

30-35 students are accepted per year. Throughout the application process we try to create a diverse group of capable students with mixed experience and backgrounds. We want our students to contribute to the learning experience.

To apply you need to submit:

• Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English (or Icelandic), together with a photo.
• Official transcripts of your diplomas and grades.
• Two letters of recommendation.
• A Personal Statement answering the following questions (max. 1000 words, in total):

      - Why do you want to pursue our MPM programme?

      - Why should we accept you into the MPM programme?

      - How are you going to use your MPM degree?

The answers to these questions can be sent either within the electronic online application or as an attachment.

The tuition fee is divided as follows:

• Registration fee                   ISK 150.000.- 
• First semester                      ISK 825.000.-
• Second semester                 ISK 975.000.-
• Third semester                     ISK 975.000.-
• Fourth semester                   ISK 975.000.-

What is included?

The fee includes tuition, reading material, processing fees and the cost for the CAPM certificate (Certified Associate in Project Management, PMI international) and the IPMA D certification (International Project Management Association certificate), and IPMA C and IPMA B certifications (second year) for all entitled students. The IPMA C and IPMA B certifications require both the project management knowledge provided in the MPM programme and substantial project, portfolio and programme management experience. Graduating students that meet these conditions can conclude their C or B certification - in the year of graduation - within the MPM programme fee.

Student Loan Fund

Icelandic citizens are eligible for student loans from the Icelandic Student Loan Fund (LÍN). The student loan partly covers the tuition element. If you are an Icelandic citizen applying for our program, we strongly advise you to inform yourself about the rules and principles of LÍN.
