A step outside the box at the final Snjallræði workshop

The fourth and final Snjallræði workshop took place in Gróska last weekend, led by Oddur Sturluson, one of Snjallræði’s project managers. The teams arrived well prepared after the previous sessions, but this time the emphasis was on project implementation and effective presentation techniques.

The focus was on the key considerations that make a project viable for the future. Projects differ in nature, and therefore teams often require fundamentally different approaches. Questions such as What pace suits our journey? What types of funding are appropriate? What roles do the different team members play? These were discussed. An action-planning method was also introduced to help coordinate the team’s journey, where transparency and clear goal-setting are essential. Different funding and investor pathways were reviewed, along with the importance of a targeted funding plan and strategies for scaling solutions successfully.

Alongside these practical tools, another core theme emerged: no project can move forward unless entrepreneurs manage to communicate their vision, passion, and unique strengths to others. This is why storytelling is so important. A running theme in Snjallræði is identifying the core idea that captures people’s attention, finding your voice, and building a compelling narrative around it.

. Through improvisation, participants had the opportunity to step outside the box.

To support this, Fannar Guðmundsson from Improv Iceland was invited as a surprise guest. Fannar energised the group with improv exercises, an approach increasingly used in innovation training as it strengthens creativity, listening skills, and confidence in speaking. Fannar reminded the group how strong stories are crafted, the value of active support within teams, and the importance of being able to relax and have fun. Through improvisation, participants had the opportunity to step outside the box and experiment with new ways of conveying ideas with energy and conviction, whether to investors, customers, or partners.

The Snjallræði final presentations will take place on December 11th. At that event, the teams will present the results of their work over the past months. The final event is a great opportunity for those within the university sector, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovation enthusiasts to meet and get to know new teams dedicated to developing solutions that address the urgent challenges of our time.

Snjallræði is Iceland’s first joint university accelerator, with the University of Akureyri, the University of Iceland, and Reykjavík University collaborating to run the programme together. Snjallræði is a leading platform for shaping future impact solutions.
