MSc in Language Technology

Language Technology (LT) is a research and development field with the eventual goal of enabling people to communicate with machines using natural communication skills. LT is an interdisciplinary field which covers subjects like computer science, linguistics, statistics and psychology.

The School of Computer Science at Reykjavík University (RU) and University of Iceland (UI) offer a joint two year (120 ECTS) graduate program leading to an MSc degree in Language Technology (for students registered at RU) or an MA degree in Language Technology (for students registered at UI).  The program is taught both in English and Icelandic and can be taken with either a research-based emphasis or course-based emphasis.

The aim of the program is twofold. First, to graduate students with the necessary skills to manage LT projects and develop LT solutions, and, second, to prepare students for a PhD study in the field of LT.
