Excellence in Research and Teaching

Reykjavik University has a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. The University's study programmes are developed in collaboration with industry to ensure their relevance to the rapidly changing society.

RU offers a range of graduate programmes taught in English. 

Undergraduate studies

Undergraduate degrees are 180 ECTS and take a minimum of three years of full-time study to complete. All undergraduate degrees are taught in Icelandic. However, there are a few modules offered in English for visiting exchange students.

Graduate studies

With RU's graduate courses, students have an opportunity to conduct research or prepare for a career through an innovative, applied learning approach.

Graduate courses are 90-120 ECTS and take two years of full time study to complete.

All departments offer graduate programmes taught in English.

PhD studies

Reykjavik University publishes a higher number of scientific articles in its fields of expertise than any other university in the country. Choosing Reykjavik University to complete a PhD degree is therefore an opportunity to conduct research in an outstanding academic environment.
