Construction Technology is a practically orientated diploma program at the post secondary level, rooted in the building industry. The students´ project work plays a large role in their studies and most of the teachers have a background of practical experience in construction and design.
The main subjects of study are building construction, computer aided design, strength of materials, structural design, materials science, management and administration.
Prospective students must have completed a Journeyman's Examination in that particular field. Additional requirements are 20 FEIN credits in languages (Icelandic, English, and Danish) and 20 FEIN credits in science (math, physics, and chemistry). Applicants with a Matriculation examination from an Icelandic secondary school fulfill these language and science requirements.
To fulfill these academic requirements, students can attend preparatory courses at Reykjavik University's Preliminary Studies, which are specifically designed for Technology students and are taken as distance learning alongside the Technology program.
