Role

The role of the Library and Information Services of RU (LIRU) is to support and strengthen the creation and dissemination of knowledge at Reykjavík University by collecting relevant materials in RU's fields of study, making it accessible, and providing library users with outstanding services. The emphasis is on high level services and on creating an electronic library which aims to provide the RU community with access to electronic material comparable to best practice in the international academic community.

Information literacy instruction is an important part of library services at RU. It´s aim is to enhance users skills and ability to retrieve information, assess its reliability and use reliable data- and information resources in the relevant scientific field.

Collaboration. LIRU collaborates with other Icelandic libraries when possible. The most important collaboration projects are: Gegnir, the library OPAC, the National consortium of access to electronic databases and e-journals and Skemman.is, the e-repository of the Icelandic university libraries.
