Training on running the International Office
Description
The aim of the course is to give insight into how the International Office can be an important agent of change when internationalizing a national university.
Topics covered in the course are:
1. Positioning and strategy. To whom does the International Office (IO) report to? How to make a clear international strategy for your IO.
2. The functions of the IO.
3. Budgeting and Financial Management of the IO.
4. 1000 balls in the air – project management
5. Your partners – a strategy or happening?
6. Your homepage – the neglected child of the house or your main marketing tool?
Teaching material:
The course includes first and foremost lectures, guest lectures, case studies, exercises and group discussions. Main teaching material will be paper copies of lecture slides and other supporting hand out material.
Academic qualifications required:
After the course participants should have means to know how to run well the IO at their home universities. The aim of the course is to share different experiences regarding the running of IO and learn from instructors and other participants. Students will fill out a questionnaire before the start of the course and do some group work that will be shared with the rest of the group. Reading material will be distributed on site but participants should make sure that their institution holds a copy of Managing an International Office published by EAIE (European Association of International Education).

Place: Open University at Reykjavik University, Menntavegi 1, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
Course duration: Approximately 5 working days, including the optional excursion trips of Iceand´s culture and nature. It includes about 20 hours of teaching.
Time: Scheduled for June 2nd - 6th 2014 (5 days from 9am - 4pm).

Excursion trips of Iceland's culture and nature are optional and therefore not included in the price.
