New academic year off to a good start with a record number of international students

Yesterday marked the first day of teaching for the academic year 2016-2017 with around 1500 new students attending their first class at Reykjavik University. 

The week started with a special orienation programme for both international and Icelandic students. During the two days, RU staff introduced the services available, academic rules and resources and organised a game of orienteering that required the students to venture into the far corners of RU's campus.

International students at RU this autumn are approximately 200, which makes this the largest group of international students to enroll at the University. 

New students at RU are registered in four academic departments: School of Business, School of Computer Science, School of Science and Engineering and School of Law. This academic year there are two new study programmes at RU, the BSc course in Economics and a diploma degree programme in marine innovation taught in the Westman Islands.
