Hnakkathon - The Fisheries Challenge 2017

REGISTRATION DEADLINE JANUARY 19th

The Fisheries Challenge (Hnakkathon) of RU and Fisheries Iceland, will take place at Reykjavik University January 19th to 21st. The winning team will visit the Seafood Expo North America in Boston in March, courtesy of Icelandair and the US Embassy in Iceland.

The competition is open to all RU students, free of charge. Teams or individuals register by sending an email to atvinnulif@ru.is by noon on January 19th. Participants can form teams of up to 5 people, which should preferably be made up by students in different studies.

Hnakkathon is a competition for aspiring experts in environmental issues, marketing, software, technology and logistics to prove their capabilities and talent by developing solutions for the seafood industry, one of Iceland‘s main economic pillars.

The event is organised in cooperation between Reykjavik University and Fisheries Iceland.

The challenge will be introduced for participants at noon, Thursday January 19th. The teams then have two days to design their solution, which they present for a judging panel on Saturday 21st. The winning team will be introduced at a ceremony in the Sun on Saturday afternoon.
