204 receive their degrees at January graduation

1.2.2016

204 students were graduated from Reykjavik University on Saturday. The ceremony took place in Harpa concert hall.

In his address, RU rector Ari Kristinn Jonsson, urged graduates to make a difference and to take advantage of the opportunities higher education creates. With a degree from RU, students would have obtained valuable knowledge, have gotten to know innovation through their studies, have worked on real assignments for companies and solved problems together in interdisciplinary teams.

"It does not come as a surprise that RU graduates are highly sought after. In general, we see that 80-90 per cent of graduates already have jobs at graduation three out of every four companies say that our graduates are very well prepared for their profession. The reason for this is simple: a degree from RU creates opportunities, both for students and the community as a whole."

Awards were given for achievements at undergraduate level. Recipients were Árni Þór Óskarsson, BA law; Dagbjört Una Helgadóttir, BSc psychology; Ingólfur Halldórsson, BSc computer studies and Kristín Björk Lilliendahl, BSc financial engineering.
