The School of Science and Engineering was established in 2005, following the merger of Reykjavik University and The Technical University of Iceland. The School is one of the largest academic schools in Iceland, with about 1200 students in various lines of study.

The School offers programs at the BSc level in financial engineering, engineering management, biomedical engineering, mechatronics, software engineering, computer science, applied civil engineering, applied electrical engineering, and applied mechanical and energy engineering.

At the MSc level the School currently offers programs in Civil engineering, Financial engineering, Decision engineering, Biomedical engineering and Mechanical- and electrical engineering. The School also offers programs within Reykjavik Energy Graduate School of Sustainable Systems, in collaboration with Reykjavik Energy and Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR).

Six research centers are active within the School, and the School also has collaborative agreements with several overseas universities for research and/or student and faculty exchange. 

The School emphasizes excellent teaching, groundbreaking research and strong ties to industry and institutions working in the relevant fields. Languages of instruction are Icelandic and English.
