A student who requests an evaluation of his previous studies in relation to a course or courses at the School of Law must apply for such evaluation before June 15 in relation to the fall semester and September 15 in relation to the spring semester. The application shall be in writing and supported by sufficient evidence of the studies on which request for evaluation is made, i.e. a detailed description of studies and a certified diploma.
Evaluation of previous studies is subject to the following rules:
a) A student requesting evaluation of previous studies for the purposes of a course or courses in the School of Law must apply for such evaluation before the start of the course. The application shall be in writing and supported by adequate proof of the studies to be evaluated, i.e. a detailed description of the studies and a certified transcript of grades.
b) Only studies at the university level will be taken into consideration.
c) Courses which a student completed more than 9 years before enrolment for studies in the School of Law will not be assessed for credits. An applicant must have met the minimum requirements for a grade in the studies in question, provided always that the requirements are not below the standards applied in the RU School of Law.
d) Previous studies may be assessed at up to 90 ECTS credits, at the discretion of the School's Academic Affairs Council, in the case of uninterrupted studies which are comparable to B.A. studies at the RU School of Law. If the studies for which evaluation is requested are not comparable to B.A. studies at the RU School of Law, previous studies may assessed at up to 15 ECTS credits.
e) A student requesting evaluation of previous courses from completed degrees in the field of law shall comply with the conditions of points 1 - 3 above. The student shall also meet the following conditions:
i. Grades shall be a minimum of 6 in all courses evaluated;
ii. The student must complete a minimum of 90 ECTS credits in law at the RU School of Law;
iii. The student shall spend a minimum of 50% of the time of studies pursuant to (b) above at RU.
f) A student requesting assessment of previous courses from completed degrees in fields other than law shall comply with the conditions of points 1 - 3 above. Such students can, at a maximum, obtain an evaluation of courses corresponding to 15 ECTS credits in place of elective courses in the 6th term and in replacement of courses regarded as comparable to the required fields in B.A. studies which do not pertain to the field of law (Entrepreneurship and starting new ventures).
Decisions on whether previous studies should be accepted are made by an Academic Affairs Council appointed at a faculty meeting. The committee members shall allocate tasks among themselves. The committee's conclusions may be referred to a faculty meeting.
Documentation that must accompany an application for evaluation of former studies:
- The application itself (form printed of the Internet)
- A certified copy of grades from the university in question.
