The School of Computer Science at Reykjavik University (RU) and University of Iceland (UI) offer a joint two year (120 ECTS) graduate programme leading to an M.Sc. degree in Language Technology (for students registered at RU) or an M.A. degree in Language Technology (for students registered at UI). The programme is taught both in English and Icelandic and can be taken with either research-based emphasis or course-based emphasis.
The aim of the programme is twofold. First, to graduate students with the necessary skills to manage Language Technology (LT) projects and develop LT solutions, and, second, to prepare students for a Ph.D. study in the field of LT.
What is Language Technology?
Language Technology (LT) is a research and development field with the eventual goal of enabling people to communicate with machines using natural communication skills. LT is an interdisciplinary field which covers subjects like computer science, linguistics, statistics and psychology.
