MSc in Computer Science
The School of Computer Science at Reykjavik University offers a two-year (120 ECTS) graduate programme leading to an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science. The programme is taught in English and can be taken with either research-based emphasis or course-based emphasis.
All students enter into the course-based track. Students who demonstrate exceptional qualifications during the course of their M.Sc. studies can apply to enter the research-based track. The application should clearly indicate the intended research topic and a consenting supervisor, as well as the motivation for making the switch.
Some of the advantages of the M.Sc. programme at Reykjavik University are:
- The programme is relatively small and there is close interaction between students and faculty.
- Most of the courses are given within active research areas of the faculty members, and the teaching is generally closely knit to the research activity of the department.
- In the research-based programme, in particular, students have the chance to work on cutting-edge research, e.g. within one of the many research centres of the department.
- In the course-based programme, students have the flexibility to study part-time.
- Students may optionally spend one semester abroad, at one of many collaborating institutions.
